Is there a standard polarity for I/Q data as it relates to left and right channels as used in SDRs?
So far, for generating I/Q Tx data I have Johan's 500Hz tone generator, G3PLX's SDR Transmitter software and have today just updated my DFCWi Generating software (Dual Frequency CW with idle tone). All these progs agree on polarity, which is defined such that COS(theta) goes to the left channel, and SIN(theta) to the right. At least I think that's the case! The DFCW software forms its tones by writing to a .WAV file then replaying it, and that certainly is written in the sequence COS followed by SIN, ie left, right. I'm not sure if Peter and Johan did it this way round intentionally. 3/3 the same way round does look to be a standard, but it would be nice to make sure ... Andy G4JNT www.scrbg.org/g4jnt
