Hi Paul,

Seems a very long time ago since we used to work on 10GHz!

I have been using Linrad and Winrad for quite a few years now for a
lot of my monitoring and weak signal work from home on all bands,
particularly 50 / 70MHz, but right up to 24GHz with various SoftRock
receivers and my homebrew transverters.

I only really found out by accident that the other group had been set
up, and had wondered why there was a lack of postings on this one,
i.e. not even any notification of the release of the new version!

I have been having a lot of fun recently and in contact a lot with
Fred PE0FKO, who has been kind enough to let me do some testing of new
versions of his SoftRock AVR firmware, which I really appreciate.

I had actually found the Winrad.org website a few weeks ago, but also
had not realised that since Alberto sadly stopped developing the
program that this was no longer the forum. I have not seen anything
mentioned on this one about it at all, seems deliberate to keep the
new one quiet!

Once I tried the new version, I fed my finding to Fred as I was not
sure if the problems were anything to do with his original supporting
dll file or the changes to the program.

It was only when he asked me had I seen the postings about it, that I
found out the other group existed! You will not find it in any search,
the only way to 'join' is by invitation. You need to email Jeffrey
(from the Winrad home page) to ask to join.

I should have guessed from the 'tone' of the home page and then when I
finally managed to join the group, from the type of responses given to
questions, sadly what sort of group it has now become.

It appears that 'users' are no longer considered worthy of making any
contribution, and in order to have any input you must by willing and
able to write code for them, otherwise get lost! This attitude says a
lot about those now steering the project.

Yes, I accept the software is free, and we all are grateful for the
contribution all those who have spent considerable time and effort
writing and developing the code have made, especially Alberto.

The new group now appears to be an 'exclusive club' for the program
developers only, and not interested in 'real' Winrad users, their loss
I think!

I am glad to see there have been a few new postings supporting my
opinion of the detrimental change to the way the mouse scroll wheel
tuning functions works. The other changes made are great when used
with the SoftRock v9.0 / USB control.

Needless to say I will not be bothering to make any more postings to
the other group, obviously they are not wanted. You know me from old
hi!, don tin hat, and prepared to express an opinion!

Good to hear from you Paul,

73, Bob G8VOI
