It is already supported (softdevice.CropMode); see the plugin setup menu.
The setting is hidden on the topmost submenu (something about cropping;
I'm using the Finnish OSD).
However, it could be nice if softdevice honored the aspect ratio setting
from the DVB settings menu (VideoDisplayFormat and VideoFormat). It
could also optionally display the WSS on the topmost line, so that
wide-screen TVs would automatically switch the aspect ratio.
