Yes, this would be one of those things that is high on my list of things that
need fixing. Just give the user the option to export out an .obj without
bisectors if they so desire. The size of the exported obj is sometimes double
or more (for the bisector data I'm guessing. But if no other "inferior"
software understands it....why include it?) And yes, please, just make the
naming convention be non-case sensitive. It's so embarrassing when I have to
explain to folks that Softimage doesn't know how to export out the .OBJ they
imported from ZB without first having to "rename" it to .obj.

This has been requested for YEARS, both on this list and through the official
support channels.

Nope, UVs are quite important. However, I think if everything is OK coming from
Maya, Max, Zbrush, then Softimage is the bad guy.

Have you tried exporting Obj without Uvs ?
Uvs generate bissectors that are not understood by inferior software :)

Hi

I've got a recurring issue with OBJ. Now I wanted to bring my model into
Marmoset Toolbag2, and the obj statistics Marmoset gave me was false. I had two
eye object, and one of the eye had double vertex number than the other, and the
normal were screwed up, no matter what setting I used. When I brought them into
Maya, I have seen that the vertex normals are off. So I fixed it and exported
into Marmoset, and behold and lo, it was fine. And this is not the first case
we have this issue.

I'm curious when the OBJ exporter will be fixed (like the appending of multiple
OBJ extension, a decade old bug present in Softimage).
And yes, I reported it, but nothing happened.

Cheers

Szabolcs
