We are going around in circles because it doesn't add up. I suspect that the bottom line is that there is dishonesty at the root of that, but I am no implying that it is on your part. I'm sure you are a nice guy and disclosing what you are allowed to. It is easy to negotiate one question at a time, and yes it will invite another until the point where it all makes sense, You are right when you say that it will probably never arrive at a resolution, because I doubt there is an explanation that will contain enough honest facts about the real situation to bring closure.
