Don't use nHair for anything more than some simple wire dynamics attached to a follicle would be the common piece of advice. Haven't used xGen, but it's unlikely it could be worse than nHair usability wise; to be that it would need to come with someone personally delivering hammer blows to your forehead for every strand you comb, and I haven't seen that in the feature list.
