But if he really wants a Honda that he can ride as long as he wants, and not have to do much maintenance either, the obvious choice is the Honda VFR. There has to be a reason it's been chosen best sport/tourer in the world by one magazine or another in EACH of the last 12 years. They run forever. They're quiet, smooth, adequately powerful, excellent brakes and handling, and easily roomy enough for a big fellow and a passenger. And, they're pretty darn special with their V-4's and single-sided swingarms. 1990 to 1997 models can be had for $2000-$5000. Don't be scared off by 30,000-40,000 miles on one, either...they'll go to 200,000 before major rebuild is needed.
