I missed a lot of years of fun, looks like. I started riding late,
(40, ick), when my wife (uh, I mean the kids) ran out of ideas for
father's day. So they bought me the MSF course and sent me on my
way. They didn't know what they started!! Didn't have a bike when I
took the course, but passed and got my license the same day. 5 days
later I showed up on the driveway with a 78 CB400TII. She just
looked at it, "who's is it"? "mine", I sez. "no it's not" sez she.
"yup, and I bought it with your credit card" sez I. I could see the
doubt in her eyes, so my friend who had driven me to the dealership
to buy the bike chimes in "yes, it is, and he did...". Now I can see
something other than doubt in her eyes, something more along the
lines of "you used MY card to do WHAT!!!???". heheheh...

She got over it in a while, bike wasn't that expensive. Then I
bought a 77 cb750f in late fall, and took it apart over winter. I
always wanted a 70's F, they looked SOOOO cool when I was in junior
high. Wanted one of the yellow 76 Fs, but when the 77 showed up, for
$450, I couldn't resist. PO couldn't ride it, too short, and had
only put on 25 miles in 3 years, 14k miles total, so after thoroughly
cleaning the carbs and attempting to put them together 3 or 4 or 5
times (it's EASY now<G>), it actually started the first day I had it
all together! Harley riding neighbor actually came over with some
beers when he heard it screaming away in my garage. It's got some
great sounding aftermarket pipe, not too loud, but man, does that
bike sound out in a crowd. I love it, my son loves it. It's a great
thing. Just wish I'd started riding earlier. My son got his license
last year, he's been riding the 400. My wife took the course last
year, I'll probably get her to take it again this year, she wasn't
too comfortable riding last year. Looking forward to the mountains
of snow melting this spring in MN!!!!

sorry for rambling <g>
