Gah...  I reversed it.  My original post should have said to make sure
it was set to 'true'.  In general you want to ignore any serial lines
(unless you're doing real communications and not simple interactive
consoles). 

Sorry about that...  It doesn't sound like it affects you either way,
but I don't want it screwing up anyone else.

(That should be that 'false' can lead to a situation that causes a hang
on boot).
