Actually that's *far* from a silly question! Indeed, I did. I didn't
include that in the above soliloquy, but in retrospect it would have
been a smart move to do so.

Oh my goodness - the system was patched and the patches were patched
even (in short, yes!)

Something I didn't check, but will. Thanks. In Solaris I'm still
discovering where stuff lives. Sometimes it's where I expect, other
times not. Oh well, that's just part of "getting acquainted" with a
new OS.

There's a thought, although what's the option if that proves to be the
case? a reinstallation doesn't sound too appetizing
