Đelić: Kosovo, but not at all costs 27 June 2007 | 09:52 | Source: B92 *BELGRADE -- Božidar Đelić says that Serbia will not back down on Kosovo, but that it cannot choose isolation either. *“Serbia will not back down on Kosovo, but it cannot allow itself to enter isolation in case big powers unilaterally recognize and accept the independence of the Serbian province,” the deputy prime minister said. He said that there were two possible solutions, the unfavorable one - independence, and compromise. “The first is unwanted, the scenario of confrontation with the forces who want to proclaim Kosovo independent, no matter the cost, even if it does not receive the support of the UN Security Council,” Đelić said. “The second scenario is compromise, which has slight, growing chances,” Đelić told daily Večernje novosti. He added that Serbia was prepared for a great number of compromises, but that it will not back down from maintaining its territorial integrity.
