Police at the Aweil bus station in Northern Bahr el Ghazel State, have
arrested a man for illegal possession of four rifles.

The man was detained when police searched his luggage as part of a
routine check and found the rifles in his bags before he boarded a bus
to Wau.

Speaking to journalists, the Commissioner of Police in Northern Bahr
el Ghazal State, Akot Deng Akot, said that the man was an SPLA soldier
in 'Division Three' and was allowed to go back to school.

Deng said the suspect however turned to smuggling of guns to his home area.

"We got him carrying four AKM Rifles. When we ask him, he told the
people that these guns are being left during the war and I collected
them and I am taking them to my area, Gok Arol Kacuol, with the
meaning that, they are going to fight among themselves with guns. So,
he's now been caught and is going to face the offence," Akot Deng Akot
said.
