School foundations destroyed says Mayor

Plans by the Central Equatoria State government to build two schools in the Gudele area of Juba, have suffered a setback after men dressed in what appeared to be military uniform demolished the schools' foundation stones, claiming ownership over the land. The deputy mayor of Juba town Council, David Lokonga, who visited the site with other state official,s confirmed to Radio Miraya that the stones were destroyed, further claiming that the destruction was done by a group of soldiers. Lokonga, said the state government has opened a court case against a group of soldiers who were believed to have been behind the incident. However, he said that state government plans to build the schools will go ahead despite the interference. "it is a delaying tactic already and this money has been given by the government of South Sudan where they had wanted schools to be constructed all over South Sudan and these are some of the schools given to Central Equatoria to construct. One important issue that I want to mention here is that there is no respect for the government. If somebody is demolishing such kind of thing which means, those people are against program of development of the government and it's a serious issue," said Lokonga.
