BOR, 17 May 2013 [Gurtong] –Miakol said that the people have committed
their energies on cultivation in the villages after they experienced
peace in the county.

The commissioner said that there may be no more hunger facing the
people after harvest.

Peter Monybuny has said there is no problem in Pigi County because the
new County Commissioner is the man of peace and development.

“The new county commissioner is working well with the people of Pigi,
it is a first time for the people of Paweny, Ruot and Thoi to come
together and believe in one leader. People where leaving at tribal
section in the county and that why county name were changing time to
time,” Monybuny said.

The people of Pigi County are very happy for the construction of the
new county headquarters.

Wunarup was suggested to be the county headquarters two years ago and
due to state insecurity, the people of Pigi were not able to move to
the centre.

There was no any established headquarters since the signing of the
Compressive Peace Agreement (CPA).

Pigi County was called Khorfullus County but with some tension between
the communities, the names changed to be Pigi in 2010.

Wunarup is between Cannel and Khorfullus and the land is strategic for
agriculture due to its proximity to River Cannel Jonglei and River
Sobath.
