She had expected his attack, but that did not stop her from laughing.
"Stop it, Lorin," she gasped. "Don't forget, I know yours, too."
After some playfulness between the couple, they finished dinner, then
Candance helped Lorin clean up. They went to bed, where they laid
together, Lorin holding her in his arms, while they talked about what the
potential empact of Lasiter's hinted changed on their lives.
After a time, Candance drifted off to sleep troubled with dreams that she
could not recall the next morning. She kept her disquiet to herself, for
Lorin would have enough to handle as it was.

Bedru made it to her office and was preparing for her meeting with the new
command crew of the Explorer when the message came from Lasiter about the
anticipated changes in Star Fleet Command.
"Oh mon Diew," she said as she read. "It's worse than I thought."
