Lasiter smiled to her. A smile that only close friends have the
honor of seeing.
"Very well then. Now I must turn to other matters. This plan of
mine. It has always been my intention to enact it slowly. To ease into it,
so not to cause havoc and chaos within the fleet. Such a thing would only
serve to invite an aggressor to attack. However, certain events have
changed my mind to a degree. It appears as if the change must be put into
place much faster than I want to. Now, my outline has implementation over 6
to 8 years. I wanted to tell you that it will not take that long. I see
the bulk of it put into place within two (2) years.
As M'Rrenn told you, I have an investigation running. I plan on
implementating my plan after a series of arrests from that investigation.
The bad seeds that are taken out will clear the path for change. While the
investigation is being done quietly, the changes will not be. Once the
arrests happen, the results of the investigation will be made public, and
defense lawyers will get copies of the invesitgation reports and other
evidence required for a fair and public trial."
