She cast him a sidelong glance, judging his sincerity. She didn't like the
idea of untrained troops going into a situation like this one. She knew
her people's capabilities, but they were planetary defense personnel, and
had never done any kind of SpecOps work before. And yet, she had no real
command over them; they were volunteers and they had already made their
preference known.
"I'll think about it," she said. "I don't know any of them perrrsonally,
so I don't have a feel forrr theirrr abilities yet. Give me a few
trrraining sessions to see if therrre arrre any prrromising ones, people I
feel arrre suited forrr this type of mission. I would also have to clearrr
it with the Caitian goverrrnment." She didn't think the Corr'thaval would
appreciate her sending Caitian troops into harms way when they were only
supposed to be advisors.
"If it helps, I was thinking of using Caitians to deliever a predetermined message
to those enslaved by the peoples under the rule of these new felines. Perhaps if they
learned that there were others willing to stand up with them, or a way out for them
they would be helpful to our efforts to keep a war out of our back yard... But that
was just a thought, Admiral." Black added.
