She followed his gaze and watched Black. "He's a good officerrr. He underrrstands he way things worrrk in ourrr field, and that's a plus. His boss, on the otherrr hand, may pose a prrroblem. I'll give him a prrroject to do tomorrrow that will hopefully get him off ourrr backs."

She had no doubt that the High Council would want a KIA operative along for the ride. Whether Polath would allow it was another issue. Even if they tried to slip one in, Polath might have already killed him if his presence were objectionable. And she doubted Polath would lie to her, although it wasn't impossible. They weren't of the same House, after all.
