Commander's Dais, K'Tael, and Garibaldi were in the central security office
discussing the events with the severed hand.

Joe and Dais explained what they had found out in their conversations with
Mr. Allso, the courier that brought the hand on board.  That he picked it up
at Viar's Oasis and dropped it off in the Bajoran Embassy.  Allso had
personally handed the container over to the Bajoran Ambassador's Chief of
Staff- Rivik.

K'Tael told the other officers that he had spoken to one of his CIs
(confidential informants) and had made a discovery or two himself.  In fact,
K'Tael had spoken to his mysterious friend, Tom, about it, and Tom handed
over some recordings and a scan of the Ambassador's office.

In a nut shell K'Tael told Dais and Joe that there was quite a lot of talk
about the hand and the investigation.  The Ambassador read the riot act to
*both* Rivik and Relik for their mistakes and failures at keeping the "item"
secret, escorting it through customs as planned, and keeping the
investigation low key.  K'Tael also conveyed that there was a rough plan to
get it off the station, and dispose of it before anything else unexpected
happened.  Rivik was told to put a call into Rear Admiral Markus Garibaldi
and to Rear Admiral Zorin to get their assistance in calming things down on
the Starfleet end, and to help get their dangerous package off the station.

The scan was the icing on the cake... It showed a container with the hand in
it inside of the Ambassador's office.  It also showed that Relik left with
it.

The conclusions were: 1) they did not have much time before the evidence was
gone, 2) the pressure was about to increase with possibly some Starfleet
Brass weighing in on the matter on the side of the Bajorans, 3) they could
not search the embassy or the ambassadorial staff's quarters, but they could
intercept the package in transit- maybe, and 4) no matter what happened,
big, powerful people were involved...

"I must admit that I am not all that familiar with the civilian legal
system, but what is to stop us from just beaming the thing out?"

"Well,if you ignore the possibility of 5 to 10 years in the pokie for
violating the soverign territory of Bajor, 3 to 6 for theft, and the fact that
the evidence would be illegally obtained and thus not admittable in court
nothing." Joe answered.

"I must agree with Joe that that is definitely not a legal option.  It was a good thought, though, Commander," said the Klingon somewhat whistful about how the law sometimes made things more difficult.  "What do you think about sending our friend back in?  Do you think he would have much of a chance to access the hand, particularly since his superiors know he has been questioned by us?"

"That could be tenuous. The big wigs over there have been pressuring Mr. Allso not to cooperate with us. My fear is that if he goes back they will exert even more pressure on him. Possibly use his family as leverage." Joe replied.

"If you are free this afternoon, I think I can set up a meeting with Pony and his lawyer."
