"I'll take carrre of it. I can talk to Lasiterrr dirrrectly, and we should
be able to get them a decent ship worrrthy of warrriorrs."

"What?" she asked, her brows furrowing as she leaned forward. Something
was seriously wrong.

>The report confirmed what Kitanya had suspected, that the language that the

Her Caitian response was outrage. Someone had taken her people and turned
them into these monsters. She was obviously not alone in her feelings; the
Caitian government most likely felt the same thing and was sending warriors
to defeat these creatures. "Abominations!" she blurted, before her brain
could censor it. "If I or any Caitian gets theirrr hands on whomeverrr did
this, they will wish a thousand devils had found them firrrst."

Her eyes were hard. "Now many things make sense to me." She closed her
eyes, trying to calm down. Her tail, however, was slashing violently
behind her and her claws were half out of their sheaths. "Parrrt of me
wants to rrrescue them, to frrree them frrrom the thing that crrreated and
contrrrols them. And yet, they arrre the fierrrcest warrriorrs I have
everrr fought, and I have seen in them things we as Caitians rrrejected
millenia ago. I don't know if they can orrr want to be rrrescued. They
arrre intent on destrrruction and domination, and that is something we, as
Caitians, cannot allow, no matterrr the costs." Her heart wept as her
voice filled with hardness.  As Mikan, she was sworn to defend her people;
that was the code of the Mikan. But if these things were allowed to
proliferate, if they invaded, every Caitian would become a warrior, and her
clan would have failed its ancient duty.
