After listening watching the message from General A'amon, Valtris slammed her hand down on the table. "I guess we can be sure of what happened. It appears that we have had a major military coup."

T'Kresh nodded. "The real question is going to be what will our governments' reactions to the situation be?"

"I am sure that we will put up a defensive front along our borders," replied Golan. He wasn't positive that his government or the Obsidian Order itself would not go a step or two further.

"The Aqualish are likely to wait and see how the new Venasian government performs before we react. We are not likely to invade and enforce our will on another people." It was unspoken that this lesson was learned through the Cardassian occupation of their land.

"This Council that was overthrown was the duly elected government of the Venasian people," said Valtris simply. "How can we stand by as the military takes over. It could lead to civil war or expansionist policies with this new regime that could be a destabilizing force in this sector. We must do something to assist the Council," demanded Valtris harshly.

The Starfleet representative weighed in, "That will be difficult as the Venasians have pockets of their people in just about all of our territories. A united diplomatic front is the about the best we can do. I seriously doubt that a united military front would be hard to put together considering that Pacifica is within Federation space."

"Ambassador Na'Tral, that may be easier said than done. I agree that a united diplomatic front is very important, but I am not sure that everyone will be willing to allow the situation play out on it's own," replied T'Kresh.

"And what does that mean?" asked Valtris.

"I think that Ambassador Ra'aj was just pointing out that our peoples all confront such incidents differently, but the Council has been set up to try and smooth over these situations. Coming to a united front will be easier because we are here to talk things through."

"And what of the Dominion?" asked Valtris. "They have no representation on this council currently, and I am sure that they would welcome this incident to get things back on track in this Quadrant."

"We can only deal with those who have made themselves available to the Council and hope we can stabilize the situation so that such a thing does not happen." Golan turned to Na'Tral. "What do you think your government's reaction to the situation will be?"

'I think they are changing their pants right now.' the Andorian thought to himself. "While I can not speak for the policy makers officially, I believe they will publically take a wait and see attitude. Give the 'new government' a chance to explain themselves. Unofficially, I think that the reaction will be quite different. Ships will be outfit for war, and an all out search for Venasian ships will begin. An investigative and diplomatic team will be sent, sooner or later, to Pacifica to gather more information. But again, I can not speak for the policy makers."
