There is no need for apology, Commander," the Venasian said pleasantly. "Unfortunately, the General is no longer at this particular Annex. The new diplomatic attache' for this office is present, however. Would you like me to set up a meeting with him?"

"That would be wonderful," replied Dais. "When do you think that could be scheduled for?" Dais wanted to press to meet with A'amon, but he figured he would try the diplomatic approach first.

"To be honest, our new system has only been up and running for the past few hours, so scheduling has been a little disparate," she informed him, "However, I will see if he is available sometime today. One moment please." She looked away slightly, becoming a little glassy-eyed as if her attention was elsewhere. After about a minute, she came back. "Secretary V'nquera would be pleased to meet with you in a few minutes. Is that acceptable, or would you like to schedule a meeting later this afternoon?"

"That would be very acceptable," replied Dais. He had not been expecting a meeting so quickly. He had thought the Venasians would push off the meeting as much as was feasable.
