> "Time is something that I need desprately, but is a luxury that I have little of.
>He will come at you with everything that he can. You will be put under a microscope
>that few beings are put under. If I may ask, why are you willing to do this? Or
>should I ask you are you willing to do this?"

"I am willing, sirrr. As to why, it is not because I want yourrr job. I am a
warrrriorr, not a politician. I do not, norrr have I everrr desirrred publicity orrr
fame. I do my job and I do it the best I can to serrrve the Federrration. That's the
rrreason I am willing to do this. I know all to well what could happen if Ketterrring
succeeds. The fleet would be split
at a time we could potentially be looking at a two-frrront warrr. If that happened,
the Federrration would be in serrrious jeoparrrdy, and I am not willing to let that
happen." She looked down, knowing just how serious this was, knowing it could
potentially cost her her life, or her career at the very least. "The Federrration has
rrrarrely faced times like this,
when everrrything hangs in the balance. Everrryone must play theirrr parrrt. I am in
a position to play this one. It's not something I would have chosen, but it's herrre,
in frrront of me. If I walk away frrrom it, frrrom the fleet, frrrom the
Federrration, then I am not who I thought I was. I would turrrn my back on
everrrything I believe in, and I would not
be Mikan." She was scared. But she knew her duty.

Lasiter listened and considered what she said. "If there is a way for you to suggest
that you would want this job, without actually saying that, I would suggest that you
do that. I understand the risk that is involved, both personally and professionally,
and I will do what ever I can to lessen it for you.

However, action must be taken soon.... There is not enough time to do anything
tonight, but given a few days I should be able to come up with something. Do you
think that you can hold them off from any action for a at least 72 hours?" he asked.
There seemed to be something about his eyes that said that he already had an idea or
two about what he was planning.
