follow the Admiral's suit and carry on with business. "That may be the case,
Commander, but I do not think that the questions will be limited to what has
happened. As we were talking before the arrival of Commander Shevab, they
are probably going to want suggestions as to what the station can do to
prevent such an incident from happening again." The Trill officer was forceful
in his statement as he looked around the table.
"Well, there can be no doubt that we will have to increase the number of restricted areas aboard the station. The hallway in which the explosion took place was not a restricted area. There was no reason for the average station visitor to go to that portion of the space. It is close to Engineering and poses a security risk. Such areas should be restricted only to necessary personnel."
Dais studied the Klingon Security Chief. He did not like what he was
hearing. "While I agree that security on the station has to be increased, we must
remember that this is a public station, Commander. This is not a starship in
which all of those aboard are carefully controlled. We are billed as the
'Gateway to Earth' in our tourist literature," he said as he slammed his fist down
on the table to emphasize his point.
K'Tael nodded in understanding. I am not proposing that we lock the station up from Ops to the Promenade, Commander. I am just saying that we can restrict areas that the public does not have a need to see, particularly those that are both critical and sensitive. I believe Engineering and lower decks are one such area."
