> The mini-mob headed to the canteen on the first floor. It was little more
than a >large coffee shop, with freshly made baked goods and a wide variety
of coffees >and teas. It was more remenissent of Seattle than San Fran, but
no one >complained. Especially on those long shifs.... Lasiter was seen by
everyone >there, which was part of the reason for coming. He wanted people
to see him. >See him walking around and doing things that were ordinary.
That would help >install confidence in the troops. It would also make it to
the press corps and to >the fleet that the CinC was well and in charge.
A young female officer approached the group-she was teary-eyed but she came
to rarod-straight attention, "Lieutenant Cadry requesting Permission to
speak candidly to the Commander-in-Chief, sir." *sniff*
Lasiter, who was waiting for his coffee to be made, turned upon hearing the voice of
the young woman. There was something about her that compelled him to give her some
time.
"Granted.", Lasiter said giving her permission to get past the security detail.
"What can I do for you, Lt. Cadry?", he said as warm as he could manage.
