"Admiral Renaud, do you wish to make an openning statement at this time?", asked the Chair.

"Federation Council Chair, Members and esteemed guests. Thank you for the
opportunity to speak with you. We are in a time of change. As seen in
recent news reports, we have been attacked at Spacedock as well as having an
attempt made on our Commander-In-Chief's life at the funeral of his son.
This should enrage all of us to take action to further protect our Member
worlds as well as ourselves. I believe my ideas for reforming R&D will
benefit us all if I am given the opportunity to do so. I ! pledge to work
with all of you to use our technology to benefit us all."

The Ambassador Sharez slid his glassed down off his nose. After closing them, he placed the on the table in front of him. Many wondered if he wore the glasses becausethey made him look more the politician. In any case, he tended to make heavy use of them as a prop. His antennae curled forward as the meeting slid into full swing. "Thank you, Admiral Renaud for meeting with us. I am sure my fellow committee members appreciate your willingness to come before us. Considering your former positions as Chief of Starfleet Security and your new assignment as head of Research and Development, you can provide us with a great deal of insight into recent events and plans for the future.

The Tellarite representative sat at the conference table and nodded. It was clear from the way his little beady black eyes darted around the room that he would not be silent for the whole meeting.

Lorin nodded, "It'd be my pleasure."

"Perhaps you could start by explaining some plans that your department have started working on in response to the events you brought up in your own statement."

"In terms of new plans, that has not occurred yet. I have currently been focusing on doubling up our past efforts. Before we can make any new plans, we need to be more efficient on our existing projects. We have multiple projects with multiple sets of personnel working on them in different areas. This not only causes redundancy but slows our progress as well. I feel we should have single points of work and teams for each project. Recently Spacedock's Engineering department reached a never-before-seen 98% efficiency rating. I feel we could use some of their staff's talents to assist in our projects."

Sharez used his stylus to take notes on a PADD as Renaud spoke. "This all makes sense, but I have to admit that I am quite concerned that you have not started addressing recent events in R&D."

(Admiral?)

Ben
