>Lorin was quiet for a half second before replying-he looked at the Rigellian Ambassador again, "I apologize->all of your feedback to me is important and necessary." He took a breath, "I support the move to SF HQ >because of the amount of civilian traffic we have routed through Spacedock. No matter how good Security >is, anytime you have a cluster of high brass, you are going to unwantedly encourage negative activity and it >is unfortunate. Let me assure you that just because there is not visible activity it does not mean these are >unaddressed cases. I believe that with recent actions taken by Commander K'Tael we should be able to >close some of these cases shortly and I believe we will see a tie-in with the recent attacks on Admiral >Lasiter. The time is being taken to make sure the proper results of arrests and convictions are obtained. I >am not at liberty to give further details on that but I believe you will appreciate! the results of the ongoing >investigations."

>"As for the Staff at R&D, I am pleased and impressed. While there are some understandable hard feelings >over the departure of my predecessor, the staff have adapted to my Management style and intentions for >the department. I am going to realign the department so the Chain of Command currently of myself and my >Assistant Department Chief will be followed by Project Commanders who will be responsible for each >individual project. This will add additional on-site accountability in addition to my visits and reports received. >Further inspection of the previous mismanagement in accounting, delivery of
>services and procedural processes can only assist in this process. I will be pleased to send updates to this >group as needed."

>"Do I believe I can take these two programs? Truly I do. We are in a time of change. This time of change >requires steady dependable leadership. Admiral Lasiter has trusted me in this dual role a! nd as >Spacedock's investigations continue and resolve, so will the cur rent issues I've raised here today regarding >R&D. I am asking for your trust and the opportunity to do so."

>"It sounds like you have some good ideas, Admiral.  The important thing for someone in your position is to >make sure to put the job first.  Ego and distraction cannot be allowed if we are going to have the type of >research that we need to make sure that the Federation and Starfleet are on the cutting edge of >innovation," said T'Sar.  "How are things going with some of the other projects your team is working on?"

>"Thank you...and I agree completely. As I stated earlier, I would like to move Medical Research to Starfleet >Medical. Project Thunderclap is my overriding concern. Right around the time I took over R&D there was an >incident involving an explosion. There were casualties and injuries. We were making progress on it and a >prototype-the USS Explorer-will be used on an upcoming mission. We have restarted our work on it but the >cause is still under investigation. Again a Safety Officer to oversee this ! project would be crucial."

>Sharez tapped his stylus on the table.  "Has a cause for that explosion been identified?"

(ooc: chris-I can't remember if this had been sent to me yet??)

>"And who was the Safety Officer assigned to that project? added Drak.  "Obviously that person was not >adequate in the position.  What is going to be done to prevent the same thing from happening again?"

"That person was covering two projects and was doing spot-inspection on his other project that day. Again another example of why I need a Safety Officer dedicated to each individual project."
