"I have found I have that same problem," she told her, meeting the eyes equally, and smiling in a cunning way. "It would be an honor to face you in friendly combat."

"I look forward to it, then," Carrhae replied.

Ael downed the remainder of her drink, without flinching. "I am monopolizing your time," she said, "and on this, of all days, that should be considered a breach of ettiquette. I thank you for the walk, for the ale, and most especially for the conversation, with the opportunity to honor my sister on this day." Her face softened, and turned serious. "She would have liked you, Carrhae," she told her honestly, simply. "And she would be nothing less than thrilled that Matthew has again been able to find a bond-mate, especially one of such well defined mnhe'sahe. I hope I have not offended in any way. It is my wish, as I am sure it is Matthew's, that the two of us might become friends."

"There is no offense, Ael. Indeed, I am pleased that we had this opportunity to talk and to begin what I hope will become friendship." Carrhae finished her ale
and rose. With a smile, she continued, "Perhaps we should rejoin the others.
Matthew might think we are conspiring against him."

(response)

She waited until Ael stood, then she led the way through the suite and down to
the main living area.
