"I do not see how the internal structure of our nation would be of concern
to the Federation," A'amon replied, "Foreign governments have always
communicated with our T'remea, who then communicate with the governing
body.
The Council was for the Venasian people, not the intergalactic community."
"Certainly you, of all beings, understand how sudden, and unexpected
changes
in government make neighboring goverments nervous. Such changes, without
the courtesy of simple warning, are cause for great concern and tension.
Far
lesser things have caused terrible wars....", Lasiter let the thought
hang.
He couldn't believe that the General was still relying on that poor
excuse.
It showed complete arrogance and a serious lack of respect not to have
come up
with a better answer. All goverments let their neighbors know of great
changes in goverment. They were done in public. The change in the
Venasian
political structure, seemingly overnight, was done in private. That
supported
the rumors of a coup d'etat.
The Plantoc raised her hands. "Excuse me, gentlmen. I believe that this
is
a welcoming receptions. While many of us have our differences, I am not
sure that they are welcome during such a celebration."
A'amon acknowledged her statement with a bow of his head. "As the honored
Plantoc states. Perhaps you would be so kind as to review some of the
highlights planned for our stay here."
