Once Boulay was gone, Jared decided it was time to break the news to Joanna
Kirk. "Admiral Jackson to Commander Kirk."
Joanna recognized the name from her earlier meeting with him. "Kirk here.
What can I do for you, sir."
"Commander, I have an assignment for you. Captain Boulay and I were going
to be looking into his recent assignment, and we were hoping that you would
be able to join us on the trip. I think you could a great deal of help to
the investigation and to David in particular."
"Understood. What time should I be ready to depart."

"I will be there."

Joanna was not sure how she should approach the situation after the last
time she had been with David. Their relationship was blossoming, and she
knew she probably couldn't stay on as his counselor if they were going to
continue along that line. At the same time, she was needed for the mission
and it did not seem like she was going to be evaluatin him so much as what
they found on the planet. She would speak up if she had to.
