"What are your feelings  about the newest application for  membership  to
the Council?  The  Ramesar seem interesting,"  said the Klingon  as she
changed the subject while  walking across  the air lock from the  Holbrooke
to the station.

Rilg had   to hustle to keep up with  the tall woman, but he was able to do
so.  "I  have to admit that  I know little about them.   I was interested in
this situation that has  caused there society to be  split between the
Usupers and the   Origae.  I am curious as  to how that will play out.  And
it is clear that their relationship  with the Venasians will provide us with
some interesting  discussions."

Valtris nodded.  "I agree."  She  was  surprised that he knew about the
incident between the Venasian and the   Ramesar.  She had spoken to her
aide, and he had told her about  the  incident, but from what she had
understodd, the Ferengi had not  been  represented at the reception.  "I am
looking forward to  talking to the  representative during the application
process. It  should help clarify  some things about them."

"That is the only way  to get to know them.   Do you know if they have put
in some sort  of application proposal to give us a  basic overview of their
people?"  Rilg was feeling much more comfortable  now that the  conversation
had shifted to another topic.  He was more like  his  usual confident self
since he was not the center of attention.

"I do  not know.  That would be helpful.  I have to admit that I see little
reason to deny them a seat on the Council.  We are meant to be a place
where our peoples can come together in a peaceful manner to deal with
problems.  I am not sure how that would work if we became  elitist."
Valtris was calmer than one would expect.  "The only  real question in my
mind is whether the Ramesar we have been talking to  represents the official
government of their people."

"From what they  said when they were contacting us about their arrival, it
seems that they  are.  It is the Usurpers that were not the correct
leaders."

Valtris nodded.  That is how things appeared.  "Well, I am sure we will know
more if we have a report to read over tonight.  I am assuming that we will
start hearing about the application at tomorrow morning's meeting.  I assume
that Watson will start presenting his ward to us, then."

"It would seem that we have little left to do than wait for tomorrow morning's session, then," replied the Ferengi.
