Hi,
Just after the failed installation attempt, I got,
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]# sqlplus spacewalk/[EMAIL PROTECTED]
SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production on Fri Nov 21 11:38:26 2008
Copyright (c) 1982, 2005, Oracle. All rights reserved.
ERROR:
ORA-12541: TNS:no listener
One thing more I've noticed is the installer changing (why?) the
permissions for /etc diretory. I suspect this might be related to the
creation of /etc/sysconfig/rhn/backup-*
And what causes oracle to be unavailable might be this. Is that correct?
Yet, the following actions seem to get oracle up and running again.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]# chmod 755 /etc
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]# /etc/init.d/oracle-xe restart
Shutting down Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Instance.
Stopping Oracle Net Listener.
Starting Oracle Net Listener.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]# sqlplus spacewalk/[EMAIL PROTECTED]

SQL> exit
Would you see any relation between /etc permissions and "oracle not
running"? Can this be the reason?
Regards,
Cem.
