A quick fix would be to try adding the hostname you put into rhn.conf into /etc/hosts with the ip address your slave is connecting from. I personally haven't found or looked very hard into the logs on the master to see if it ever tells you the failed hostname.

From what little information I have given you, can anyone give me any suggestions on what I have mis-configured?
