I used sendmail+mimedefang it has worked well as an external mail relay. <os rant> I use the debian distribution on virtually all my linux servers, as it was easy to install all the dependencies required for spam filtering. Eg, pyzor, razor, dcc, spamassassin, mimedefang, clamav installation. If you have no experience with linux, got with another distribution, as you'll think debian stinks if you don't have much linux experience. Redhat/Lineox are good easy to setup choices. </os rant>
NOTE: Implement it as a real high numbered mx record for a few weeks to verify things are working correctly. So only spam should relay through it. If you reject mail based on spam score, reject on a high threshold such as 20 to begin with. Don't use aggressive sare rules, use the safer ones. Go slow with implementing new spam filtering, as users get pissed with FP. Shawn R.
