hmm
lets see if I add ALL the time I've spent getting SA (and MailScanner/MailWatch etc etc) going on my gateway it'd prod add to to about 1 month in the last year (that's being generous, but include time reading the docs, installing from cold start, replying to you guys on the mailing lists...etc).
Given my salary, 27k Euro is way way over that...even if you include floor space, etc etc I doubt I'd be able to get it up to 27k Euro for the year

I like the bottom one better, but I realise that the Ninjas are to intergrated in the SA culture to be removed..
Maybe someone could come up with something that looks like a Japaneese letter but upon closer inspection can be seen as the ninja in the top logo..
The 27000 Euro figure came mostly from having a very well paid system administrator who spent a lot of work on the system.
I'l look around tonight at home and search for the printout.

Here is something quick that my co-worker came up with. Of course this can be improved upon based on what the community wants to see in a logo.

"SpamAssassin should get a new logo"
I know SA is one of the best AS products available, and that helps a lot when you try to get your company to adopt is as a solution.
But technical superiority is unfortunately not the only thing that company managers look for when selecting a solution. Things such as support, having someone to call when things don“t work, price and the *feel* of the procuct also play a big role.
You may think that in the *price* category, no commercial product could possibly beat the price of SpamAssassin, but you would be wrong. I have a Excel printout that we got from a Anti-Spam company which compares SpamAssassin to their product and shows that SpamAssassin costs around 27,000 (twenty seven thousand Euros) for the first year in production.
It doesn“t matter if those calculations are right or not, company managers base their decisions on things like this.
And in the *product feel* category, SpamAssassin realy could do better. It“s embarrassing to say the least that the logo of the product you are trying to sell as a solution looks like something right out of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
IMO, the logo should be completely redesigned to be simpler and more "symbolic". But unfortunately my artistic skills are not up to the task.

Hi,
I don't know how to put this without offending someone....but, I've always found the existing logos...well "open sourcey", not very 'professional' looking. I think it needs to be totally redrawn, make it 'shinier'. For example, the clamav logos (www.clamav.net) look really good (mind you, I think some graphic designer has produced them).
just my 1.5 cents...
