I've got it running on Thunderbird, let's say my email address is 
[EMAIL PROTECTED], here's my setup:
Server settings:
Server Name - Localhost
User Name - username
Port - 110

SpamBayes Configuration page setup:
Remote Servers - mail.earthlink.net
SpamBayes Ports - 110

When you check you e-mail you should get asked by Thunderbird for your 
password, that's the way it works for me.
