thanks for the quick reply. good to know about the automatic backups.
i solved the puzzle some minutes ago, forcing my macbook, which still
had the earlier data to deactivate wlan before ssync could jump in and
update. i immediately backed up ical, set up ssync to replace google,
emptied ical and address book on the g5 and then synched from macbook
to google to g5. that did the trick and it sems to be running fine.
still, i think there could be some backup mechanism that saves
calendars and contacts locally in a defined time frame (e. g. each
day).
