J., When you update to a new version Spanning Sync makes a backup of your calendars and contacts. Maybe that's what's happening here. If so, you would see the process "zip" running in Activity Monitor. And if that's the case then it should finish quickly, although unusually large databases will take longer. In the next version I'll make sure this happens in the background.
