Speaking for myself, I've got a lot of Google calendars to sync, many of which are read only. Using Google sync I can't set the colours to what I want, whereas mobile me matches the colours with ical on the desktop, where they are easily configured to match Google calendars. (there are some tortuous workarounds to try to get the colours more or less to match, and that's what i did on my iPhone for selected calendars but it's not practical on the iPad for all the calendars.)
