I'm not following why this is a big deal. In my case, I use the google sync to keep my android phone up-to-date, and mobile me to keep my wife's ipod up-to-date. I've always used mobile me to sync my multiple desktops. Having an external service that did the sync between google and mobile me would be ideal, as then I would not have to worry so much about having the google sync software on every desktop, and having to worry about mobile me and spanning sync fighting over entries which may differ on each desktop based on when the last mobileme sync happened.
