The only reason Windows/Linux is relevant is that Thermo MSFileReader,
the one and only library that reads Thermo raw file, is
Windows only. Wine (or any other emulator of the same class) is
necessary when you want to use Thermo MSFileReader in non-Windows
platform, say Linux.

I previously played with Linux+wine+MSFileReader, along with
some Windows tools created using visual studio 2005.
It worked just fine. I guess msconvert will work too.

Hope such info helps.

Do you mean converting files on linux? wine is a Windows emulator that runs on linux. If so then that's pretty much your only option as the conversion tools (msconvert, etc) use Windows only libraries.

    Hi.

Is there any options (except from wine) for converting Thermo
    Fisher .raw format to .mgf?

Please let me know if it is inappropiate for this group to ask that
    kind of questions.

    Thanks.
