Hi Antoine,

Thanks!

We discussed this on the SPDX Legal team call this morning and I have included
below what we came up with for how to add the various translations and versions
to the SPDX License List. We need to identify the full name of the license, the
short identifier (see
http://spdx.org/spdx-license-list/license-list-overview#fields for how these
fields are defined), and how the translations interact with what is considered
a “license match” (see http://spdx.org/spdx-license-list/matching-guidelines
for more about matching)

Please let us know if this sounds correct in light of above re: the SPDX
License List and your intent and development of the Licence Art Libre:

We would add to the SPDX License List as follows:
—> Full name: Licence Art Libre 1.3
        Short identifier: LAL-1.3
Using French language (http://artlibre.org/) as license text with a
note (and the corresponding links) that there is English, Portuguese, and
Polish translation of that license.
Note - the English version shows FAL (on this page:
http://artlibre.org/licence/lal/en/) as the abbreviation for the license, yet
if the English translation is truly supposed to be the equivalent of the French
language original, then the short identifier would need to be the same…
Assuming we have this right in terms of approach, would you object to using
“LAL-1.3” as the short identifier for all of the v1.3 translations and
reflecting that on your website?

—> Full name: Licence Art Libre 1.2
        Short identifier: LAL-1.2
        Using French language
(http://artlibre.org/licence/lal/licence-art-libre-12/) as license text with a
note (and the corresponding links) that there is Italian and Spanish
translation of that license (following same pattern as with 1.3 described above)

—> We are unsure what to do with the German 1.1 version - should we add that as
“Licence Art Libre 1.1” // “LAL-1.1” or should it use the German name? Is there
a French canonical iteration of v1.1 or was it only/primarily in German?

If we cannot resolve the v1.1 question before next week for the 2.4 release of
the SPDX License List, we can always add that on the next release in June.

Also - it appears that Antoine is not on the SPDX Legal team mailing list, so
your emails are bouncing and require me to “approve” them to go to the list.
It would be great if you joined the mailing list for this reason (and your
general inclusion :) http://lists.spdx.org/mailman/listinfo/spdx-legal

Thanks!
Jilayne
