This was true with CF 4.5.x, but according to the CF 5 release notes, this
is no longer true. CF 5 is supposed to have reverted to the
memory-management behavior of CF 4.0.x, which did release memory back to the
OS when it was no longer using it.
Actually, as I wrote this, I dug up the CF 5 release notes
(ftp://ftp.allaire.com/kbftp/releasenotes/cf50releasenotes1.htm) and
according to that, CF 5 on Windows and Linux releases memory back to the OS,
but Solaris isn't mentioned. Could you find out the memory model for CF 5 on
Solaris?
