Raymond: Below is the explanation I was given. I was told that if we upgraded to 1.5.1, we would break a lot of things. In your expert opinion, what do you think? Also, any way I can just get the code necessary for the Ektron update? I have their code, but I am assuming some Spectra files need to change as well..like cfa_htmleditor.cfm for example. The reason I am so anxious to update the editor is that we begin training the masses here to update their own content, and I would much rather train them once and on the new version.
Thanks for your help. Bob Connolly http://www.datalink.com The steps we will undertake are: 1) Take a copy of the existing production system, CODB, code, custom tags and move to a comparable Spectra 1.5 base system at Syntegra. Verify that resulting copy of production functions as production does. Syntegra may require a restore of any supporting non-Spectra databases. 2) Install Spectra 1.5.1 and new Ektron editor and all current fixes from spectrasource.macromedia.com. 3) Test/verify functionality of upgraded Syntegra system to be sure it is comparable (plus new functionality testing) as compared to the production box. There may be some repair/fixing of code if things break but we don't have any way of knowing what the breaks may be. There may also be some time required to understand the changes Datalink has made to the site since Syntegra installed the application on the production server at Datalink. This work is not factored into the 40 to 60 hour estimate provided above and will be additional hours billed to the work order. Datalink will need to do a full back up of their production server at this point. We assume that Datalink will do this without assistance from Syntegra, as has been the case in the past. 4) Install Spectra 1.5.1 on production box. This will take the Datalink web site down for a day, unless you have an extra system you want us to load the upgraded site onto and then Datalink can swap that system out for the one currently running in production. 5) Verify production box is functioning OK. -----Original Message----- From: Raymond Camden [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, October 29, 2001 1:06 PM To: Spectra-Talk Subject: RE: eWebEditPro2 from 1.8 on Spectra 1.5 > says it will > cost us $10,000 or more to update to 1.5.1. I'd really like to know why they are saying this. ======================================================================= Raymond Camden, Principal Spectra Compliance Engineer for Macromedia Email : [EMAIL PROTECTED] Yahoo IM : morpheus "My ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is." - Yoda ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Structure your ColdFusion code with Fusebox.
