" I think we all share your frustration at the amount of effort we have put into Spectra to find it is now a sun set product. However I wonder if your expectation for 1.5.2 was a little high? It is only an update to allow a path into CF-MX and it was only intended for existing customers. With customisations that have been required, Ray's estimate of 10 minutes is too light but once you take AS out of the picture the process should not be too onerous.
I will be migrating a site to new hardware soon. By carefully identifying the appropriate registry settings, this can be done without reinstalling from scratch, hence I would have thought the need for a new install would be small. I prefer to think that MM assigning someone of the skill level of Ray is a positive sign from MM. " >I can understand your point of view but I disagree. I'm not the kind of guy who wants to inspect registry settings and fiddle with machines on that level and I'm sure most ISP SLAs will not support you on that level. Even though it *is* an update. It is in fact a new release that allows you to run Spectra on CFMX and should be perceived as such. I'm no longer frustrated at the fact that it is a sun set product. We have other and better options now. The amount of effort from MM has not been positive if you look at the things they promised after discontinuing Spectra (base Spectra on the object base of MX: a partial rewrite etc). But that's another discussion and I'm sure: very debatable. Let's not go there. IMHO the very least they could have done is to provide an installer for clean installation. In fact, I think they should have done a whole lot more. Anyway, nuff said. Basically, I think they should have done an installer, and they didn't. Too bad.
