Your answer about patching can be found in the 9.1 release notes which say: This release is numbered as a Minor Release. However, it is being released and installed using the standard HotFix mechanism that Spectrum has employed for a number of years. This similar delivery mechanism was used with 9.0 SP1. Also similar to 9.0 SP1, 9.1 is the path being used to deliver fixes for customers on the 9.0 releases. Future Service Releases for 9.1 will also use this same mechanism. This results in the following: 1) We are not going to be releasing separate Hot Fixes for 9.0 and 9.1. 2) All 9.0 customers will be required to move to 9.1 or later Hot Fix / release to install future code fixes. 3) A 7.1 or 8.1 customer must install the Spectrum 9.0 DVD release prior to deploying the 9.1 release. 4) Future service releases (9.1.1, 9.1.2, etc) are cumulative and can be applied to any 9.0 or 9.1 installation. No intermediate installations are needed. 5) Hot Fix and Debug numbering will continue to increase and not get reset after 9.1 or future service releases. 6) Internally, the 4th term of the version number seen in the .history file represents the sequence number of the cumulative fix release (Minor, Service, or HotFix) since the Spectrum 9.0 DVD release: DVD ==> 9.0.0.0 H01 ==> 9.0.0.1 SP1 ==> 9.0.1.2 H03 ==> 9.0.1.3 H04 ==> 9.0.1.4 9.1 ==> 9.1.0.5 --- Jon Whitehouse Systems Engineer - IT, Server Support MS 5221 1800 W. So I'm also interested in if one has to patch 9.0 before upgrading to 9.1. /Roberth ________________________________ Från: Sean Carnes [mailto:[email protected]] Skickat: den 3 juni 2009 15:50 Till: spectrum Ämne: Re: SV: [spectrum] Upgrading from 8.1 to 9.1 on Windows platform Robert, We are possibly doing the same type of upgrade and was planning to go from 8.1 -> 9.0 -> 9.1 A few questions about going from 8.1 to 9.0 though, did you have to bring the spectroserver up completely after you did the upgrade to 9.0 before going to 9.1, other than when the install does it itself? Did you go to 9.0 then patch to most recent hot-fix before going to 9.1? With our database size it can't activate all models before crashing with 9.0, the fix from CA was to go to 9.1 after sending them multiple memory dumps from the redhat server, if I have to bring it completely up in 9.0 i am out of luck and will have to go to support for some workaround. Let me know if you get a chance.
