Hello Edgar,
The same thing happened to me when installing SP1. In fact my problem was worse, I had that error and after that my Spectrum Control Panel failed to start. I did a bit of "digging" and I found that Java was partially removed from my Spectrum installation folder. After a couple more tries and failures I decided to read the installation notes more carefully and I've discovered that I had to stop everything from running (simple SpectroServer shutdown wasn't enough). After that everything was fine. Well, that's another lesson learned; to read installation docs word by word. Actually, it was the OneClickService.exe file that was still running in memory that prevented me to perform the update with the SP1, since it didn“t let me to copy the new Java files into the directory \win32app\SPECROOT\Java But the funny thing is that I tried the same installation(as failed the first time) in my lab environment in the office, and it worked just fine hehehe, but, nevertheless it is a good thing to check that all the spectrum services are stopped before installing SP1 (or other hotfix). It is a W2K3 newly installed box, with no antivirus software, and the WFirewall is disabled. Reviewing the Install logs, I saw messages stating that, when the process is trying to remove the old Java files, is getting "Permission Denied" or "Access Denied" messages, and of course, it can install the new java files that comes with SP1. I assume, this is the reason of the failure. Also, the account with which I am making the installation is the Local Admin, and this account have Full Control Permissions in every folder inside SPECROOT. Have any of you guys encountered problems installing SP1 of Spectrum 9.0 similar to this one? Regards -- Eng.
