Hello Marcel,

Thanks for answering.

"Do you want the Notes field only be set when you select the device (in
explorer, locator, where-ever)?"

Yes - if the device was selected, only then change the attribute value
NOT the field text (the device will keep the new attribute value).

"Is the attribute the same attribute as the Notes field shown
out-of-the-box?"

Yes - the same attribute.

I guess it can be done via editing "view-devicedetails-config.xml" but I
can't figure the code.

Thank you,

Regards,

Eugen NAIMAN

XML

Hi Eugen, list,

I understand the technican as I don't know if I know what you mean,
too...

Do you want the Notes field only be set when you select the device (in
explorer, locator, where-ever)? Is the attribute the same attribute as
the Notes field shown out-of-the-box?

If you want simply all pingables to have notes set to "I'm a pingable"
then select one of the pingables, open attribute editor, edit notes
attribute and mark "set as default" - from now on all (new) pingables
get the notes field set as desired.

Auto-set attributes can also be done with a policy in Policy Manager...

...but if I did not understand right try to enlighten me.

Regards,
Marcel

 Hello,

After more than 2 weeks since I've opened a ticket with CA and the
technician is still to understand what I want, I think my last hope is
to ask if anyone can help me do the following:

When I select a device in "Topology" view

- if the device is a Pingable

o set the "Notes" attribute (0x11564) to "I am a pingable"

o display the new value in "Component Detail" - "General
Information" view

This is only a small part of my issue but it will allow me to do what I
want.

Every piece of xml code in the documentation is showing how to "read"
and attribute but nowhere is shown how to "set" one.

Thank you,

Regards,

Eugen NAIMAN
