We set:

    AUTORESTART=N

Or just comment it off...

    #AUTORESTART=N

This prevents any retries, which would both (a) fail because of the presence of
a .LOCK file from the crashed SSDB and (b) overwrite any old VNM.OUT log with
useful information about the prior crash.
Same for ARCHMGR.IDB

Thanks,

Subject: RE:[spectrum] Shutting down and starting up SpectroServer cleanly on
windows

Hi Mark and List

I have setup our Windows based Spectrum as you described with AutoBootStart
(but not AutoRestart)set to Y in the SS.idb file. I had forgot ArchMgr.idb
though.

One clarification: do you have AutoRestart set to N or are you just saying
leave RetryMAX as 0. Have attached my SS.idb for comparison.

I also had the reg entry set as you discussed but probably still have it a bit
small.

Unfortunately the team that monitors the environement (my team) vand the team
that manages the servers (patching reboots etc) are two different teams.
Therefore I don't have much control over when and why the windows hosted
spectroserver reboots. Unfornately as well we have a weekly reboot policy for
Windows Server (set by the other team). Never had that problem under solaris.
