To follow up on this, I checked his Java install and we are both running 
v1.6.0_26b03.  

We did get the problem fixed and I think what did it was to not only delete the 
Java application files, but also the Java resource files.  Maybe the resource 
files would have been sufficient, but he can see all of the SNMPv3 profiles 
now, so we're good.  If I run into any other users with issues I will try just 
the resource files and see if that is enough.

You can view/delete the resource files in the same spot as the Java Application 
files.  It's a drop-down menu on the top left (In the Windows Vista Java 
control panel at least).
